Jesus plus nothing equals everything. Jesus is alone saves us from our self-centered, prideful, selfish human nature. Paul calls this nature, the old man. When you receive Jesus into your heart, you become a completely new man or woman, a new creation.
Your new creation life has been created in the righteousness and holiness of Jesus Christ. Here are the verses that give us this wonderful truth.
Ephesians 4:23-24 (KJV) 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Paul says when we put on the new creation that God has formed within us, this inner man of God, that all things will become new in our life.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
This is a supernatural, spiritual inner life. God is a spirit, and your new born again self is also a spirit. Your newborn again spirit is absolutely one with Jesus. This is a union with God. This is why Jesus said I will never leave you or forsake you. Here is a passage from John that clearly reveals your wellness with God as a believer.
John 14:20 (KJV) At that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
John 15:5 (KJV) I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
I’m reading the verses above and speaking them out loud and meditating on them is how you plant this reality in your heart.
Isn’t this amazing!? The more we realize our won this with God in Jesus Christ, the more we will walk in our new identity as sons of God. Men and women are like our sons of God, because both men and women inherit the promises like us first son would inherit the farm.
